Consumer/Patient Engagement

There is a shift underway in health care towards patient-centred care, wherein patients and their families actively engage in health care decision-making. Essential to advancing this mission in child health is ensuring that parents/families can access and understand the essential, often complex health information they need to meaningfully participate in health care decisions. Towards this objective, Cochrane Child Health has partnered with the ECHO and ARCHE research groups at the University of Alberta to engage parents/families. The Pediatric Parent Advisory Group (P-PAG) will help develop processes and resources for connecting parents/families with research-based information on children’s healthcare.

The main role of P-PAG Members is to provide the parent perspective and to reflect on information from ECHO Research, ARCHE and Cochrane Child Health about caring for sick children. Members will not be asked to provide feedback about their own personal/ family experience with children. P-PAG will consist of approximately 15 parents from across Alberta and representing a diverse population.
